Allow the remote control of the recording option and music playback on the docked iPad from a wireless connection iPad
It would be great it we could remotely control the recording option and music playback on the docked iPad from a different wireless connection iPad.
In our setup we tend to leave one iPad docked in the DL1608 and have a second iPad connected wirelessly for adjustments. It would be great if the wireless iPad could initiate recording on the docked iPad and also initiate playback from iTunes on the docked iPad.
Com este recurso poderíamos gravar mesmo não estando na house mix, isso ajudaria muito o técnico que gostaria de pegar um ou outro detalhe, mas estava longe da mesa.

This could done by implementing midi over ethernet.
I like the idea of playing backing tracks from the ipad sitting in the mixer.
Send a midi request to load song number 7, at the same send mute and unmute to specific channels and prep the effects.
Send a new midi command to start, stop and rewind. Rewind may just be loading the song again.
This is really no different, than lights that can be controlled: load a scene or start a sequence.
I do not like to clutter up the interface by combining a mixer view and and a playback view on that ipad. The backing should be remotely controlled, from another ipad. Especially when the band has no FOH guy.
It seems like even small bands are getting there shows more and more automated.
Stage light controlled using prerecorded midi.
Why not do the same for the digital mixer. It will never replace a good FOH guy for sound and light, but I guess we are a lot of bands that do not have such a guy.
I need this function, is so easy to do a command, add it guys! I can't run all over the stage to hit record and then go in the middle of the crown to mix, do it do it!!!

Half my shows are playback and it would be great to start my intro music 'in app' from the changing room or back of the hall you know wherever I'm making my entrance from. At the moment I have to set up my Macbook as the player and use 'remote' from my phone. This works ok but when I get onstage I have to switch my side stage ipad back and forth from remote to master fader and this is not good waiting for the ipad to synchronise. I hate having more than one ipad on the stand I much prefer leaving the docked ipad docked and safe so you know you have backup. Also this helps at small venues with no stage and a million people wandering past your shiny ipads/ ipods/ Macbook all at arms length.

How do you get to gear your recording from docked ipad

Nice. Posted two years ago and still not an option. I would say the folks here are doing the big ignore. :(
same, i run 2 ipads. the DL side stage with a docked ipad, me in the crowd with another ipad.
remote control of the record function to the ipad in the dock will enable me to use it more.

Just set it so that if there is an iPad docked the record button is functional. If there's not docked iPad have the system generate a message saying that there needs to be an iPad docked in order to record or play back - of course the recording will be to the docked iPad and playback will be from the playlists on the docked iPad as well.
But that app still does n't stop or start recording remotely
And can mackie or apple create a way to edit the recorded file or the same iPad and playback aswell
Because it don't make sense to wait till I reach home to discover and hear the recording sounding like shit!!!!!
This would be a great feature. We are a mobile church and have replaced or analog desk and snake with the DL1608. I would love to record directly onto the iPad but currently it is impractical and distracting for the sound guy to run to the back of the stage to stop/start the recording.

This is a required function absolutely!
